Why Democrats Wanted Cain Out of Presidential Race Soooo Badly

speaking at a press conference in Scottsdale, ...
Herman Cain, the latest American martyr to Internationalist "Progressives," via Wikipedia
I was certainly no Herman Cain supporter in his bid for the Republican presidential nomination, but I have to admit one thing. Somebody sure wanted this guy out of the race, and badly.
Last Saturday Cain announced that he was indefinitely suspending his campaign. In late October, he'd been rising sharply in the polls. The Oct. 24 edition of Newsweek magazine even had a cover photo of him giving quite the ham-handed thumbs up atop the headline: "The Unlikely Rise of the Anti-Obama: Yes We Cain!"
Then came the sexual harassment allegations. Sharon Bialek claimed that Cain sexually assaulted her in the late 1990s, but her credibility was strained when she called it "sexual harassment." (I'd have found her a bit more believable if she didn't have an annoying smirk on her face every time I saw her on TV.)

Nevada: Redistricting Mayhem

Map of Nevada highlighting Washoe County
Washoe County highlighted, via Wikipedia
The current redistricting of the Nevada Legislature will force Washoe County candidates and incumbents spend more time and money on campaigns, put some lawmakers at odds with new constituents and, in a few districts, change the balance of power between Republicans and Democrats.
"It will require a lot of resources and a lot of work to get to know these new voters," said Assemblywoman Debbie Smith, D-Sparks. "It'll take a good plan to get out there ahead of time and start meeting folks."
While Washoe County will maintain all of its Assembly and state Senate seats under the current plan approved by the Supreme Court, most of the districts are much larger in area. Assembly District 32, now held by Assemblyman Ira Hansen, R-Sparks, will stretch from the Northern Nevada border with Oregon to south of Tonopah as more of rural Nevada gets sucked into districts with urban legislators.
"It changes the game," Hansen said. "Instead of a neighborhood campaign, I've got to do a statewide campaign."
District boundary lines also have shifted dramatically.

Voters Flee Democratic Party in Key Swing States

Numb and Dumbest via Wikipedia
President Obama’s uphill battle to re-election is getting steeper.
A report released today by the centrist think-tank Third Way [Third Way was also a slogan of the Fascist parties in Europe during the 1920s and 30s] showed that more than 825,000 voters in eight key battleground states have fled the Democratic Party since Obama won election in 2008.
“The numbers show that Democrats’ path to victory just got harder,” said Lanae Erickson, the report’s co-author. “We are seeing both an increase in independents and a decrease in Democrats and that means the coalition they have to assemble is going to rely even more on independents in 2012 than it did in 2008.”

Democrats Starting to Worry About Gingrich, Despite Leftist Bravado

English: Former U.S. Representative and Speake...
Newt Gingrich via Wikipedia
Newt Gingrich would be such a weak challenger to President Barack Obama, according to Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., that his nomination would be "the best thing to happen to Democrats since Barry Goldwater."
Democratic strategist Jim Jordan says he and others in the party "passionately" want to face Gingrich. And from the right, conservative pundit Ann Coulter is warning fellow Republicans that Gingrich's past extramarital affairs and other baggage make him a far less formidable GOP nominee than Mitt Romney.
But even as Gingrich's sudden rise has filled many Obama supporters with cheer and some Republicans with dread, some Democratic strategists worry that the combative former House speaker would present some challenges for the Obama campaign that would not exist if Romney were the GOP candidate.

More Californians Against Bloated Public Employee Pensions...But Still Not Enough

"I am Governor Jerry Brown..." via Wikipedia
About 41 percent of California voters think pension benefits received by public employees are too generous, with Republicans overwhelmingly viewing the retirement benefits as over-the-top, but independent and Democratic voters more supportive of the current system, according to a Field Poll released today.
The survey also found majority support for Gov. Jerry Brown's proposal to raise the retirement age for new government workers and set limits on public employee benefits.
The poll surveyed 1,000 registered voters last month and found that the number of Californians who view government employee pensions as too generous has grown over the past two years, from 32 percent in 2009 to the current 41 percent. However, the poll also found that a majority of both Democrats and independent voters view the current benefits as about right or not generous enough - and that 49 percent of all voters feel that way.

New Jersey: Democrats Spent Twice as Much Money as Republicans During Election

Governor of New Jersey at a town hall in Hills...
Image via Wikipedia
That's a lot of wasted money and quite a victory for Governor Chris Christie. The Democrats only picked up one seat out of 120 up for grabs in the state legislature. And that seat was really won in April when the new redistricting scheme was decided. So that enormous money advantage was all for nothing in the end.
New Jersey Democrats raised and spent more than twice as much as Republicans for last month’s legislative elections, even with Governor Chris Christie attracting record out-of-state donations for his party.
Democratic candidates collected $31.8 million, 70 percent of the total, and spent $27.8 million, according to a report today from the Election Law Enforcement Commission. Republicans raised $13.3 million and spent $10.5 million.

Brooklyn Democrat Simcha Felder Rumored to be Switching Parties

Obama's personal war on Israel may have had even worse consequences for New York Democrats. New York City Council Member Simcha FelderImage of Simcha Felder by gothamschools via Flickr
The possibility, reported Monday in the Daily News, that Deputy City Comptroller Simcha Felder could leave the Democratic Party to run for a new Brooklyn congressional district on the Republican line has been met so far with little more than silence.
Felder reportedly refused to comment on reports that at a meeting with Republican leaders, he said he’d be willing to run on the GOP line if a district that would unite the heavily Orthodox Jewish areas of Midwood and Borough Park is created. Currently, these areas are split among several congressional districts.

The memo, written by pollster Geoff Garin for Democratic policymaker Sen. Rick Perry announced Tuesday that he had earned the endorsement of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the controversial but influential Arizona lawman known for his tough stance on illegal immigration.
"The federal government has failed on border crime and border enforcement, and no candidate for president has done more to secure the border than Gov. Rick Perry. I have been watching Gov. Perry and Texas closely and know his border surge operations with state, local and federal law enforcement officials have helped shut down the illegal trafficking of weapons, drugs and people," said Arpaio in a statement.

Southern State Shows White Male Democrat is About as Viable as Smallpox at This Time

Great Seal of The State of AlabamaImage via Wikipedia

I would also add white MARRIED women to this vanishing group of Democrats. Anyway, here's what they have to say:
Roger Jones, Tommy Ragland and Mark Craig, Billy Bell and Jim Smith are all white male Democrats holding local elected offices - a categorization that now puts them on the endangered species list.
Men like them once ruled the Earth - or at least politics in Alabama and Madison County - but the atmosphere and the electorate have changed.
A local Democratic Party leader and three elected Democrats have their own ideas about why their numbers are dwindling. Tagging local Democrats with labels associated with the national Democratic Party's position on issues is chief among the reasons cited.

North Dakota Senate: Heitkamp Leads Berg by 5

Congressman speaks to USACE Souris River area ...Image by USACEpublicaffairs via Flickr
Democrat Heidi Heitkamp reportedly leads Republican Rep. Rick Berg in the first poll of North Dakota’s contested 2012 Senate race.

But that’s not surprising, say Republicans and political observers, because the poll was commissioned by a partisan group motivated to see Heitkamp elected.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee released a poll last week that found Heitkamp edging out Berg 47 percent to 42 percent.

Was Politico Always This Biased?

Was Politico always as biased as it is now? I know it has not been around that long and that it is controlled by the Washington Post, but in the beginning it seemed to me that it tried to at least give an appearance of being impartial. Recently however, it seems like every single story that I come across from them is as blatantly in the pocket of the Democrat Party as a story from MSNBC, New York Times, ABC News... or the Washington Post for that matter.

Oregon: Saba Ahmed Switches Parties, Becomes a Republican

This is interesting. Even young Muslim women are abandoning the Democrat party? Who will be left to vote for Obama besides socialists, perverts, Occupy Fill-In-The-Blankers, and race-based voters?

Saba Ahmed, the young Muslim woman from Beaverton who ran in the Democratic primary for Oregon's 1st District congressional seat, says she has switched to the Republican Party.

From her Facebook page: "Never thought I would see this day, but I am officially a registered REPUBLICAN. Thank you to all the Oregon Democrats for helping me realize my Conservative Potential. Looking forward to 2012 Republican Victories!"

Ahmed, who had interned for then-Gov. Ted Kulongoski and Rep. Earl Blumenauer, has been a frequent participant in Democratic events. She received less than a half-percent of the votes in last week's primary.

A trial for the man accused of that killing, alleged former Arkansas cell leader Edy Jiminez-Oliverez, began Tuesday as scheduled.

Kagan Must Recuse Herself from Obamacare Decision

It looks like an open-and-shut case to me. If Kagan stays on, it will be a new low in the history of our judicial stystem.

On Sunday, March 21, 2010, the day the House of Representatives passed President Barack Obama’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, then-Solicitor General Elena Kagan and famed Supreme Court litigator and Harvard Law Prof. Laurence Tribe, who was then serving in the Justice Department, had an email exchange in which they discussed the pending health-care vote, according to documents the Department of Justice released late Wednesday to the Media Research Center, CNSNews.com's parent organization, and to Judicial Watch.
According to 28 USC 455, a Supreme Court justice must recuse from “any proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned.” The law also says a justice must recuse anytime he has “expressed an opinion concerning the merits of the particular case in controversy” while he “served in governmental employment.”

Oklahoma: Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett in Trouble

Mayor Dewey Bartlett won't face re-election until 2013, but a new Tulsa World-sponsored poll shows that, if the election happened today, 58 percent of Tulsans would vote for another candidate. The scientific survey indicates 26 percent would vote for Bartlett, while 16 percent didn't know or refused to answer. That could give other candidates the confidence to challenge Bartlett, SoonerPoll.com's Bill Shapard said, but two years is forever in politics, so a lot could change for the mayor.
