Florida: Which Convicted Felons Will be Allowed to Vote?

Florida’s decision to require ex-felons who’ve served their prison sentences to also pay a range of financial penalties before they can register to vote is fraught with political, legal and moral implications — for society and individuals.

Floridians may have thought the issue of allowing most ex-felons to vote was resolved in November when voters approved a constitutional amendment restoring voting rights to former felons except murderers and sex offenders. But a new law going into effect Monday has reignited the fight over felon voting.

Akron, Ohio: GOP Council At-Large Candidate Back on Ballot After Screw-Up

Henry Todd, a Republican running for council at-large, voted three minutes after his polling location opened. The ballot he was given listed Democratic candidates. By law, Todd’s participation in another party’s nominating process disqualified him from running as a Republican.
