The media loves to equivocate their defintions of evolution. Evolution is a scientific fact, life indeed changes over time. Various theories (including Darwin's) attempt to explain how and to what extent. The idea that there is a scientific theory of evolution that explains the transitions from goo to you in an entirely naturalistic fashion, is indeed, largely a myth. No such theory exists.

She along with most TPers, and far right conservatives, are just plain ignorant about Marxism. It is not an economic theory but a social theory. That economic theories of Socialism grew from it does not make it an economic theory. Marx is credited with being one of the first sociologists. His observations of society and how it is divided, are not necessarily correct, but they do provide some reasons to see why he arrived at his conclusions. The primary being he conflict between rich and poor, and it does explain why countries like those in Central America have socialistic governments.
However we should keep in mind, that republicans calling people socialist is just plain hypocrisy. Their farm support giveaways, price supports, special tax breaks for the wealthy are just a s socialistic as anything the democrats have done. It is just two sides of the same coin. The republican platform is closer to Fascism, Those name callers who are impugning the integrity of President Obama, do not seem to know that Socialism is government ownership of the means of productions, Fascism is the private ownership of the means of production, and the government runs them.
But republicans can not let the facts confuse them.

instead of reporting what each candidate "charged," the times should do its journalistic duty and investigate which accusations are actually true. it would presumably be fairly easy to find out whether o'donnell was actually confusing coons with his predecessor.

I never thought I would say this, but I'm beginning to like O'Donnell. She isn't as well educated as I would prefer, but neither are most of our national elected politicians. She's got a bigger set than Coons, and her's seem to be made of brass. She just might beat the longshot odds and win this election

We NY'ers laugh at her and make jokes, but people like her are going to win all over this country and then we will really be in trouble. If I see one more lilly livered democrat smile and act all evasive while they are dressed down by these maniacs in one of these debates, I'm going to scream. People need to see us fight for what we believe!

How tragic for our nation that the corporate media marginalizes and all but silences the voices of reason while the idiotic pronouncements of O'Donnelll, Paladino, Beck and their ilk command immediate and universal coverage. Only George Bush was less prepared for public office than Christine O'Donnell is, and this, aside from her dangerous ignorance, makes her equally as mesmerizing and funny to watch.
If only this irony wasn't the tragic emblem of how low the Republicans have sunk.
Only Millionaires and Suckers are Republicans now. Suckers like O'Donnell fronting for Millionaires who could care less about the suckers that see O'Donnell as their Savior.
Her silliness is grim.

I'm sorry, but they didn't hurl personal attacks at "each other." Chris Coons
consistently passed on opportunities to go after her personally--on the question of her finances, for example.
And when was it that "we" fought the Soviets in Afghanistan, as Ms. O'Donnell stated? I must have missed that.

Amazing the the republican party has found someone even less qualified for office than Sarah Palin.
I grew up in a republican household, but my parents were of the old fashioned "education is good" branch of the republican party. Does that even exist any more? All of the republican candidates we see today seem to be such unbelievable ignoramuses.

Kind of an odd title about how they hurled insults at each other. If you actually watched the debate, O'Donnell took every opportunity to lay false attacks on him. But Coons didn't really respond by going after her. He kind of played it cool.

How hypocritical, she runs around accusing Coons of being a "Marxist", then she says that it doesn't matter what "she believes". If she is able to question Coon's philosophical point of view, why can he not do the same to hers? She has some zany fundamentalist beliefs that are worrying and open to question.

Like Barney Franks remarks at a Town Hall Meeting, Mr. Coons should have debated the wooden table at which they were seated. O'Donnell is probably the biggest joke of the year who sports a toothy, cunning smile. Question: Did she arrive on her broomstick?

You betcha' she did! Name calling seems to be an effective means for Tea Baggers. They misrepresent themselves (patriots) and mischaracfterize others. They don't defend the constitution so much as revise it so that's it's even further away from the original document that the founding fathers envisioned. This country is in bad shape because we value mediocrity more than logic and reason.
