According to Encarta, these are the worst colleges in America.
1. Warren Wilson College (Asheville, North Carolina)
"Mildly famous" for their "extreme liberalism," Warren Wilson's students look and act the part. Identifiable by their "dread locks, Phish t-shirts, [and] political buttons," WWC undergrads "like good organic wholesome food" and "hand-rolled cigarettes" and typically know "some botanical-ornithological basics." To put it more simply: "This place is a haven for hippies and very left-wing people."2. Hampshire College (Amherst, Massachusetts) Hampshire College's "ultra-liberal" students tend to be "socially conscious, left-wing, and artistic." On campus, "a bohemian ideal is enforced" and students as a whole are "astoundingly aware of issues that often have little or no effect on them." Students are "very respectful of diversity" but tend to "not be accepting of conservative viewpoints."3. Bennington College (Bennington, Vermont)
"What might be subculture at another school is more or less mainstream at Bennington." Bennington's "really interesting, crazy, creative, brilliant" students enjoy trying to "out-different" each other. However, these individualistic "free-thinkers" are united by one thing: their "very liberal" political views. The "handful of students" on campus who don't fit this profile "may feel awkward or out of place."4. New College of Florida (Sarasota, Florida)
Described by students as "Utopian-liberal," New College's campus is full of "politically active [and] very left wing" students. There's a visible contingent of "conspiracy theorists" on campus and "friendly heated debate and discussion is pervasive" among students. While "social and political liberalism is par for the course" at New College, "the few Republicans on campus are actually cherished for the difference of opinion they add to the mix."5. Bard College (Annandale-on-Hudson, New York)
"Hippies, hipsters, and geek chic" are common sights on the Bard campus. A typical Bard student is an "artsy-fartsy lefty intellectual ... and is proud of it." In fact, "you could classify Bard as liberal, but that might be too far right for most of the campus." To sum up: "If you're uncreative or conservative you probably wouldn't fit in. Other than that, just about anything works."
The rest of the top 10.
yay! I just go into a college on this list! Yay!
