Poll Trend Detected

I have noticed in recent polls, both national and state, that Obama fares better in polls which encourage a large amount of 'undecided' declarations. In the polls that do not accept undecideds so easily and push for a response, McCain fares better. This is good news, because it seems that the undecideds are breaking toward him. The bad news is that in most polls, Obama still manages to hold onto about a 4 pt. lead when you average out the national polls.

For example, check this Rasmussen bit out:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows Barack Obama attracting 46% of the vote while John McCain earns 40%. When "leaners" are included, Obama leads 49% to 45%. Three percent (3%) say they will vote for a third-party option while 4% remain undecided
So Obama has a 6 pt. lead, but it shrinks by 33% to a 4 pt. lead when leaners are pushed to answer. If the race tightens by just a couple pts, this may become a much more important factor.

PS: There is a poll that came out today from Nanny Bloomberg's organization that claims Obama is leading by 15 pts. If that were true, McCain would not be leading in as many states as he is.

15 pts. is approaching a Mondale-style blowout, in which he only won 1 state and DC. McCain is ahead in way too many states for this Bloomberg farce to be even close to accurate.

10 Tips for the Weekend Gardener

Depending on your geographic location, choose drought-tolerant or
water-loving native or non-invasive exotic plants, and always purchase the
best quality plants and shrubs -- ask your retailer about plant life
guarantees -- be sure to keep your receipts.

Group plants together based on how much shade, sun and watering they
need.

Start your gardens off with organic fertilizer and other organic
products. If switching over from chemical to organic products, do it in
steps -- adding more organic fertilizer and less synthetic over a two-week
period.

Fertilize and mulch garden beds and potted plants -- the water will
evaporate into the mulch and fertilizer, and keep the plants protected and
watered as needed.

Water your plants early in the morning, and water them at the root
zone, for a longer period of time, but less often. Watering longer but less
often encourages hardy plants with deeper roots. After a heavy rain, skip
the regular watering regime.

Save water by using a full watering can rather than a hose, and bend
from the knees to protect your back from the weight of the water and the
can.

Accept less-than-lush gardens and lawns during dry periods, and be
aware that flowers, plants and lawns will regenerate after heavy rains.
Clear out dead trees and trim back leafy trees to allow more light in
on lawns and gardens.

Check automatic sprinkler systems to be sure they are operating
properly and not watering the sidewalk and driveway, and re-adjust the time
and positioning of the sprinklers as needed.

For lawn care, mow high and use a sharp blade -- 3 inches is
recommended. High growth increases grass' tolerance to drought and
insect/disease problems, and clean cut grass blades lose less water than
tattered cut blades of grass.

Here are some interesting facts about ACORN, according to Malkin: "Last July, ACORN settled the largest case of voter fraud in the history of Washington State. Seven ACORN workers had submitted nearly 2,000 bogus voter registration forms. According to case records, they flipped through phone books for names to use on the forms..." But it wasn't just in the state of Washington. "The group's vandalism on electoral integrity is systemic," according to Malkin. "ACORN has been implicated in similar voter fraud schemes in Missouri, Ohio and at least 12 other states...In March, Philadelphia elections officials accused the nonprofit advocacy group of filing fraudulent voter registrations in advance of the April 22nd Pennsylvania primary." Bad Sampling:
There are currently polls showing results ranging from Obama by double digits (Newsweek and the L.A. Times) to a tie (Gallup). Most polls, including Rasmussen Reports, show something in the middle and that’s probably the best estimate of where the race stands today… and where it has been for the past few weeks.

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that non-citizens suspected of terrorism who are being held in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, should be allowed to challenge their detentions in the U.S. civilian court system. Supporters of this ruling say it provides detainees with basic constitutional rights. Critics of the ruling say only special military tribunals should be allowed, because hearings in open court could compromise terrorism investigations. Scientists at the Karolinska Institute studied brain scans of 90 gay and straight men and women, and found that the size of the two symmetrical halves of the brains of gay men more closely resembled those of straight women than they did straight men. In heterosexual women, the two halves of the brain are more or less the same size. In heterosexual men, the right hemisphere is slightly larger. Scans of the brains of gay men in the study, however, showed that their hemispheres were relatively symmetrical, like those of straight women, while the brains of homosexual women were asymmetrical like those of straight men. The number of nerves connecting the two sides of the brains of gay men were also more like the number in heterosexual women than in straight men.

  • 40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.
  • 41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.
  • 42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use ["]united force["] to solve economic, political or social problems.

The Bill of Rights

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.



Amendment II

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.



Amendment III

No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.



Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.



Amendment V

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.



Amendment VI

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.



Amendment VII

In Suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re-examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.



Amendment VIII

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.



Amendment IX

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.



Amendment X

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
