Yes, but why what measure? The November 2006 figures show twice as many people rating his performance as bad, as good. This was during a phase when his party were recovering five months before winning the elections. You've got to remember here that Hungarians will never describe a government as "good" - it is just a step too far for any of them. Also bear in mind that the deterioration of Gyurcsany's position is as a result of cutting budgets and introducing charges for health care, as opposed to November 2006 when his government was engaged in a pre-election spending spree. My point is that his figures should be much worse. They suggest to me that in three year time when his "reforms" have become accepted and the economy has recovered he will be in an election winning position. So, not as unpopular as he looks at first sight .....
