I couldn't agree more. Let's engage the other side's arguments, and let's allow Americans to decide for themselves whether the Democrats' health-care proposals should become governing law.

51% View Alcohol More Dangerous Than Marijuana

Fifty-one percent (51%) of American adults say alcohol is more dangerous than marijuana, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Just 19% disagree and say pot is worse.

But 25% say both are equally dangerous. Just two percent (2%) say neither is dangerous.

Younger adults are more likely than their elders to view alcohol as the more dangerous of the two.

Annie Lennox opened the Edinburgh Festival of Politics yesterday with a stinging attack on the Pope’s approach to HIV/Aids prevention in Africa.

She said that the Pope’s denunciation of condoms on his recent tour of Africa had caused “tremendous harm” and criticised the Roman Catholic Church for causing widespread confusion on the continent.

She also condemned the media’s obessesion with “celebrity culture” for keeping the Aids pandemic off the front page.

AARP Losing Tens of Thousands of Members Due to Support of Obamacare

About 60,000 senior citizens have quit AARP since July 1 due to the group's support for a health care overhaul, a spokesman for the organization said Monday.

The membership loss suggests dissatisfaction on the part of AARP members at a time when many senior citizens are concerned about proposed cuts to Medicare providers to help pay for making health care available for all. But spokesman Drew Nannis said it wasn't unusual for the powerful, 40 million-strong senior citizens' lobby to shed members in droves when it's advocating on a controversial issue.

Daniel Hannan Attacked for Telling Truth About British Health Disaster

Mr Hannan, speaking on Fox News in the US, had said: 'I find it incredible that a free people living in a country dedicated and founded in the cause of independence and freedom can seriously be thinking about adopting such a system.'

Mr Hannan, who has long campaigned for the NHS to be dismantled and replaced with a system of 'personal health accounts' once described the service as a '60-year mistake'.

If you read this article by ABC 'news' you will get the distinct feeling that these people think Whole Foods only belongs to the Democrats of this country. Maybe Convervatives will make up for any loss of Socialist business that results from this incident. But then again, Republicans are way too smart to pay the inflated prices at whole foods. That's a special deal just for the Libs.

Pelosi Protested in Denver Visit

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, visiting a Denver clinic for the homeless Thursday, insisted that Democrats are united in backing health care reform and brushed off a question of whether raucous, conservative-led protests against reform have hurt the effort.

"This is called the legislative process," she said during a brief question-and-answer period after touring the Stout Street Clinic in downtown Denver. "There are differences of opinions. This is the democratic process. . . . This is a very big initiative, to change health care in America."

States Spending Money to Lobby for Stimulus Cash

Towns, cities, counties and states across the country spent a total of $21.4 million on lobbyists between April and June, up 2.7% from the first quarter of the year and in line with spending levels through 2008, according to data provided by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. Almost 1,000 different governments reported paying representatives to pursue their agenda. About a quarter reported lobbying specifically about the stimulus package.

Democrats Censor Mailings Critical of Obama-care

Democrats are preventing Republican House Members from sending their constituents a mailing that is critical of the majority’s health care reform plan, blocking the mailing by alleging that it is inaccurate.

House Republicans are crying foul and claiming that the Democrats are using their majority to prevent GOP Members from communicating with their constituents.

The dispute centers on a chart created by Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) and Republican staff of the Joint Economic Committee to illustrate the organization of the Democratic health care plan.

At first glance, Brady’s chart resembles a board game: a colorful collection of shapes and images with a web of lines connecting them.

"By a 50-42 margin, Americans oppose the House of Representatives' bill introduced July 14," said S. Ward Casscells, M.D., vice president of external affairs and public policy and the John Edward Tyson Distinguished Professor in Cardiology at the UT Health Science Center at Houston. "This bill would call for most employers to sponsor health plans and would also create a Medicare-like plan for those under 65 who have no other health plan. The increased costs would be covered by increasing income taxes on individuals making more than $280,000 and families making more than $350,000."

New Jersey Transit Officer Caught With 4 lbs of Marijuana in Car

A suspended NJ Transit police officer has been indicted for having nearly four pounds of marijuana in his car, Attorney General Anne Milgram announced today.

Sgt. Barrington Williams, 47, of Irvington, was charged with official misconduct, drug possession with intent to distribute and possession of a gun during a drug offense.

Obama Stages Health Care Question

Fighting back tears, Debby Smith, 53, told Obama of her kidney cancer and her inability to obtain health insurance or hold a job. The president hugged her -- she's a volunteer for his political operation -- and called her "exhibit A" in an unsustainable system that is too expensive and complex for millions of Americans.

"We are going to try to find ways to help you immediately," he told Smith as hundreds looked on at a community college forum -- and countless others watched on television. But the nation's long-term needs require a greater emphasis on preventive care and "cost-effective care," he said.

Ms. Smith is a DNC worker.

Massachusetts: Low Grades for State's Health Care

Twenty-six percent (26%) of Massachusetts voters say their state’s health care reform effort has been a success. A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds that 37% say the reform effort has been a failure, while another 37% are not sure.

Only 10% of Bay State voters say the quality of health care has gotten better as a result of the reform plan while 29% say it has gotten worse. Most (53%) say the quality of care has not changed.

87% Side With Cheerios Over FDA

A letter from the FDA to General Mills, the makers of Cheerios, said the company's advertising makes "unauthorized health claims" which means the cereal should be regulated as a drug. As a result, the FDA declared that Cheerios "may not be legally marketed with the above claims in the United States without an approved new drug application." The government agency added that "enforcement action may include seizure of violative products and/or injunction against the manufacturers and distributors of violative products."
