Southern State Shows White Male Democrat is About as Viable as Smallpox at This Time

Great Seal of The State of AlabamaImage via Wikipedia

I would also add white MARRIED women to this vanishing group of Democrats. Anyway, here's what they have to say:
Roger Jones, Tommy Ragland and Mark Craig, Billy Bell and Jim Smith are all white male Democrats holding local elected offices - a categorization that now puts them on the endangered species list.
Men like them once ruled the Earth - or at least politics in Alabama and Madison County - but the atmosphere and the electorate have changed.
A local Democratic Party leader and three elected Democrats have their own ideas about why their numbers are dwindling. Tagging local Democrats with labels associated with the national Democratic Party's position on issues is chief among the reasons cited.

Republicans Set to Win North Alabama District for the 1st Time

It's a district that has historically treated Democrats well - no Republican has won here in more than 140 years.
But the political winds are changing in the increasingly suburban and high tech-oriented area, with Republican Mo Brooks given a solid shot at making history for the GOP.
Political scientist Jess Brown says the district's political mood has shifted so much that he believes it can be colored with red ink long before the voting starts on Nov. 2.
"The national mood is just so anti-Democrat," said Brown, political science professor at Athens State University . "The Democrat brand at the ballot box is not in vogue."

PARTY SWITCH! Alabama Democrat Rep. Parker Griffith Joins GOP

{{w|Parker Griffith}}, member of the United St...

Griffith’s party switch comes on the eve of a pivotal congressional health care vote and will send a jolt through a Democratic House Caucus that has already been unnerved by the recent retirements of a handful of members who, like Griffith, hail from districts that offer prime pickup opportunities for the GOP in 2010.

Alabama: GOP Running Ads Against Blue-Lap-Dog Bright

The committee is not running ads against 5th District Congressman Parker Griffith, also a Blue Dog Democrat. Sere said that's because Parker has said he would not vote for Pelosi for speaker, while Bright has not distanced himself from her.

Alabama: Democrats Buying Votes With Money & Crack Cocaine

State officials should move quickly to check out the shocking allegation that votes in Perry County were traded for $40 and a rock of crack cocaine.

Times have certainly changed. Politicians used to buy votes with a couple of dollars and free beer.

But beyond the sensational claims are broader questions about voter fraud in Alabama that arise from the June 10 contested mayoral election in Marion where citizens were supposedly paid cash and drugs for their votes.
