A Milwaukee woman accused of filing fraudulent voter-registration forms has been charged with one count of election fraud.
A criminal complaint released to the media Tuesday says 19-year-old Latoya T. Lewis turned in multiple forms with the same voter name on them.

Republican lawmakers are raising concerns that ACORN, the low-income advocacy group under investigation for voter registration fraud, could be eligible for billions in aid from the economic stimulus proposal working its way through the House.

An obscure state law and an ambiguous federal ballot form are combining to invalidate some of the thousands of absentee votes being cast this fall by Virginians overseas, most of them in the military.State officials confirmed Thursday that they've instructed local registrars to set aside any vote submitted on a federally furnished write-in ballot unless the ballot includes both the name and address of the person who witnessed the vote. An advisory to registrars was distributed earlier this week, said Susan Pollard, a spokeswoman for the State Board of Elections.

In a close election, Ohio’s 20 electoral votes could swing into McCain’s [yeah, right] or Obama’s column based on the ballots of non-Ohioans, foreign citizens, felons, or even children. If, in a photo finish, the presidency hinges on such tainted Ohio votes, McCain or Obama could be inaugurated beneath a thundercloud. Fairly or not, cries of “Thief!” will haunt him wherever he goes. But beyond the sensational claims are broader questions about voter fraud in Alabama that arise from the June 10 contested mayoral election in Marion where citizens were supposedly paid cash and drugs for their votes.

Every vote should count equally. Former Supreme Court Justice William Brennan said that "one man, one vote," is the "basis of our representative government." Voter fraud dilutes legal votes, discourages voter turnout and undermines the integrity of elections. Every fraudulent vote cancels a legitimate vote. Election fraud is a crime that gives one man or one woman more than one vote.

Here are some interesting facts about ACORN, according to Malkin: "Last July, ACORN settled the largest case of voter fraud in the history of Washington State. Seven ACORN workers had submitted nearly 2,000 bogus voter registration forms. According to case records, they flipped through phone books for names to use on the forms..." But it wasn't just in the state of Washington. "The group's vandalism on electoral integrity is systemic," according to Malkin. "ACORN has been implicated in similar voter fraud schemes in Missouri, Ohio and at least 12 other states...In March, Philadelphia elections officials accused the nonprofit advocacy group of filing fraudulent voter registrations in advance of the April 22nd Pennsylvania primary."
