Southern State Shows White Male Democrat is About as Viable as Smallpox at This Time

Great Seal of The State of AlabamaImage via Wikipedia

I would also add white MARRIED women to this vanishing group of Democrats. Anyway, here's what they have to say:
Roger Jones, Tommy Ragland and Mark Craig, Billy Bell and Jim Smith are all white male Democrats holding local elected offices - a categorization that now puts them on the endangered species list.
Men like them once ruled the Earth - or at least politics in Alabama and Madison County - but the atmosphere and the electorate have changed.
A local Democratic Party leader and three elected Democrats have their own ideas about why their numbers are dwindling. Tagging local Democrats with labels associated with the national Democratic Party's position on issues is chief among the reasons cited.

North Dakota Senate: Heitkamp Leads Berg by 5

Congressman speaks to USACE Souris River area ...Image by USACEpublicaffairs via Flickr
Democrat Heidi Heitkamp reportedly leads Republican Rep. Rick Berg in the first poll of North Dakota’s contested 2012 Senate race.

But that’s not surprising, say Republicans and political observers, because the poll was commissioned by a partisan group motivated to see Heitkamp elected.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee released a poll last week that found Heitkamp edging out Berg 47 percent to 42 percent.

Democrats Lack Enthusiasm for Voting

Self-portrait of Joseph DucreuxImage via Wikipedia

Gallup:
PRINCETON, NJ -- In thinking about the 2012 presidential election, 45% of Democrats and independents who lean Democratic say they are more enthusiastic about voting than usual, while nearly as many, 44%, are less enthusiastic. This is in sharp contrast to 2008 and, to a lesser extent, 2004, when the great majority of Democrats expressed heightened enthusiasm about voting.

Washington Governor: McKenna 44, Inslee 38

070531_weekday9_139Rob McKenna image by kuow949 via FlickrSeattle PI
McKenna enjoys lead over Inslee:  A new KING 5 poll gives Republican Rob McKenna the edge over Democrat Jay Inslee in the race for governor in 2012.  Among 532 registered voters statewide, 44% tell SurveyUSA they’d vote for McKenna if the election were held today, while 38% say Inslee.
McKenna’s early lead can be attributed in part to his strength in the Puget Sound area.  In King, Pierce and Snohomish counties, he’s even with Inslee at 41% each, which is significant for a Republican candidate.  As expected, McKenna picks up votes in more conservative eastern Washington with a 59%-25% advantage.  But the large population in the Metro Seattle area is key.
The poll has a margin of +/- 4.3% and includes both landline and cell phone users. Later today, we’ll have results of our polling on the state Attorney General’s race.

Connecticut: How Bridgeport May Have Helped Democrats Steal Governors Race

Location of Bridgeport in ConnecticutImage of Bridgeport in Fairfield County, via Wikipedia
It would be two more days before Bridgeport reported its final results, forcing the state to wait to find out who would be its next governor. And that canceled moderator's report, obtained by Hearst Connecticut Newspapers, would become the first of three different tallies produced by or attributed to Bridgeport election officials as they counted votes during a sleep deprived, pressure filled period between Nov. 2 and Nov. 5.
None of differing tallies showed Democratic Gov.-elect Dannel Malloy losing to Republican Tom Foley or reduced his margin of victory to the threshold that would trigger an automatic statewide recount.

New York: New Voting Systems May be Responsible for Confusion in Close Races

Two weeks after the Nov. 2 elections, two House races and three state Senate contests across New York remain too close to call. And the state's new electronic voting system, where optical scanners and paper ballots replaced lever machines, has emerged in each case as both the solution and the scapegoat.
In the House races, Democrats Tim Bishop in the first Congressional District and Dan Maffei in the 25th District have gone to court requesting a hand re-count of the paper ballots. Both narrowly trail Republican challengers with thousands of absentee ballots yet to count.
In the state Senate races, the Democrats' lead election lawyer has said questions about the electronic machines could form the basis of any potential challenges to the outcome of the contests.

Illinois: Kirk Leads Giannoulias by 3 pts

Kirk held a 44 percent to 41 percent advantage over Giannoulias, but the slight edge fell within the poll's 3.7 percentage-point margin of error. Another 7 percent were undecided — a key category of voters both parties are spending millions of dollars to sway with President Barack Obama's former Senate seat on the line in a nationally significant contest.

New Jersey: Massive Corruption Bust

This should help former prosecutor Chris Christie in his run for the Governor's office.
The mayors of Hoboken and Secaucus, New Jersey, and several rabbis were among at least 30 people arrested today as part of a public corruption and money- laundering investigation by U.S. authorities.

Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano, 32, and Secaucus Mayor Dennis Elwell, both Democrats, Jersey City Council President Mariano Vega Jr., and State Assemblyman Daniel Van Pelt, a Republican from Ocean Township, were among those arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. They are scheduled to appear in federal court in Newark, New Jersey, later today.

New Jersey: Christie Increases Lead Over Corzine to 12 pts

CAMDEN, NJ- MAY 8: U.S. Attorney Christopher ...Image by Getty Images via Daylife

The Quinnipiac University Poll out Tuesday has GOP candidate Chris Christie leading the incumbent Corzine by 53 percent to 41 percent among likely voters.

A June 10 Quinnipiac poll had Christie up by 10 points, 50-40 percent. The most recent polling was done after Corzine signed a $29 billion budget that increased taxes and trimmed tax rebates.

Republicans Gain in Party ID

In March, the number of Democrats in the nation fell two percentage points while the number of Republicans fell by half-a-point. Democrats continue to have a sizable advantage in terms of partisan identification, but the advantage is smaller than it’s been since December 2007.

Currently, 38.7% of Americans say they are Democrats. That’s down from 40.8% a month ago. It’s also the first time the Democratic total has slipped below the 40% mark since the Republican convention bounce last September.

Politico Claims Mitch McConnell's Victory Makes Him Most Powerful Republican

With his party in tatters, Mitch McConnell is now the most powerful Republican in the country — the lone GOP senator who can stand in the way of an unfettered liberal agenda in Washington, and a key go-to man to rehabilitate his party.

McConnell, a soft-spoken Washington insider from Kentucky with a canny understanding of Senate tactics, is an unlikely pick to be the GOP’s Stonewall Jackson. Yet by virtue of surviving a tight reelection for a fifth term and having no real challenger to his position as Senate minority leader, McConnell is positioned to be both the ultimate dealmaker and the Republican firewall against a leftward tilt in American government.
Politico

We'll see. I'm a bit dubious, but go for it man. The leftists went after him hard and he managed to win. Maybe his underwhelming personality hides some sort of genius.
