A Less-PC Movie About Muslim Criminals

Ghettos Naming Schools, Streets After Obama

It used to be that you could find out which areas to avoid by checking to see if there was a Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard or a Malcolm X Memorial Parkway in it. Now there is another aid to help you steer clear of the urban wastelands of liberalism:

Barack Obama took office barely 10 days ago, but already schools and streets are being renamed. In the Hempstead case they didn't even wait until Inauguration Day, re-christening the school back in November -- the first in the nation to do so.

For the students, it's music to their ears, gushed school principal Jean Bligen.

They "want to keep this interest, this high belief that we can really make a difference, that we can change our community, that we can change our nation, that we can make the world a better place," Bligen said.

Experts say this baptizing phenomenon is unique to an incoming American leader riding a wave of optimism at the beginning of his presidency.Link

"This is highly unusual," said Robert Thompson, a Syracuse University professor of popular culture.

"Usually this thing doesn't take place until the president is out of office and often until the president has actually died."

My Comments to the NJ MV

They wanted comments, because they are so interested in hearing about what we think:
I thing it is wrong to charge a so called 'convenience fee' to update registration online. You people are disgusting, money-grubbing maniacs. The whole purpose of the internet is to make things easier. Instead you decide to penalize people who use the internet, even though by doing this we are making YOUR job easier. You should be paying US a convenience fee. You are basically punishing us for making your life easier.

Redistricting Will Soon be GOP Secret Weapon

The 2010 census could add multiple House seats to red-leaning states — as many as four districts to Texas and two each to Arizona and Florida. And it could subtract seats from blue-trending states like Michigan, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Most of the states slated to gain seats in reapportionment next cycle feature Republican-controlled state legislatures and governor’s mansions — the powerhouses that decide how to allocate congressional districts.

Democrat Mayor of Hartford Arrested for Bribery

Mayor Eddie A. Perez sat in his office at city hall on a late June day in 2007 and assured a pair of state criminal investigators that the rumors weren't true, that he had long ago paid in full for the $20,000 renovation at his home by city contractor Carlos Costa.

He could even get them the canceled check to prove it.

But barely an hour and a half after Perez said goodbye to the investigators, the mayor was in the offices of the Hartford Federal Credit Union filling out an application for a $25,000 home equity loan. It fell to Perez's lawyer nine days later to tell investigators that the mayor, in fact, had never paid Costa for the work that had begun more than two years earlier.

Democrats Want to Hand Voter-Fraud Group ACORN Stimulus $$$

Republican lawmakers are raising concerns that ACORN, the low-income advocacy group under investigation for voter registration fraud, could be eligible for billions in aid from the economic stimulus proposal working its way through the House.

House Republican Leader John Boehner issued a statement over the weekend noting that the stimulus bill wending its way through Congress provides $4.19 billion for "neighborhood stabilization activities."

Minnesota Recount May be Unconstitutional

The 2000 Supreme Court decision may have an effect on the 2008 (going into 2009) Minnesota senate race:
By a vote of 7-2, Bush v. Gore (2000) ruled that Florida's recount violated the principle that all votes must be treated uniformly. Applying precedents dating to the 1960s, the Court found that the Equal Protection Clause meant that ballots must be treated so as to give every vote equal weight. A state may not, by "arbitrary and disparate treatment, value one person's vote over that of another." Florida's lack of standards produced "unequal evaluation of ballots in several respects." The state's supreme court "ratified this uneven treatment" and created more of its own, and was unconstitutional.

Blagojevich Wins? Burris May be Seated in The Senate

Is the UAE Paying Al-Qaeda to Stay Away?

Many observers are surprised that Dubai, with its high concentration of westerners and relaxed dress code, has not yet been struck by al-Qaeda-inspired Islamist militants.
BBC

Unlike neighbour Saudi Arabia, the UAE has had no major terrorism incidents.
BBC

I have wondered about this for a while. With all the Western-influenced construction and influx of non-Muslim travelers in Dubai, why has it not been attacked by al-Qaeda? The United Arab Emirates has so much money to throw around that it is conceivable that they would pay protection money to keep terrorists away. One would think that Dubai would be like a stick in the eye of Osama bin Laden, since he considers the Arabian Peninsula to be sacred ground and wants to remove everything that is non-Islamic.

Military Often Prevented From Voting

Many U.S. troops serving overseas are effectively excluded from voting because they are not given enough time to cast absentee ballots, according to a report released on Tuesday.

Sixteen U.S. states and the District of Columbia do not send out their absentee ballots early enough to allow those serving in conflicts like Iraq and Afghanistan to fill them out and return them before their voting deadline, the Pew Center on the States found.

Another six states force soldiers, sailors and marines to return their ballots by fax or e-mail to meet the deadline, risking the privacy and security of their vote.
