Romney and Supporters Helping McCain

"It's disappointing when your own candidate doesn't win, particularly when it's your brother," said Scott Romney, an attorney with a prominent Detroit law firm. "We got close and had a real good shot at it, but on the other hand, we looked very carefully at the situation in the world and we thought it was very important that we rally around Sen. McCain."

Poll Trend Detected

I have noticed in recent polls, both national and state, that Obama fares better in polls which encourage a large amount of 'undecided' declarations. In the polls that do not accept undecideds so easily and push for a response, McCain fares better. This is good news, because it seems that the undecideds are breaking toward him. The bad news is that in most polls, Obama still manages to hold onto about a 4 pt. lead when you average out the national polls.

For example, check this Rasmussen bit out:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows Barack Obama attracting 46% of the vote while John McCain earns 40%. When "leaners" are included, Obama leads 49% to 45%. Three percent (3%) say they will vote for a third-party option while 4% remain undecided
So Obama has a 6 pt. lead, but it shrinks by 33% to a 4 pt. lead when leaners are pushed to answer. If the race tightens by just a couple pts, this may become a much more important factor.

PS: There is a poll that came out today from Nanny Bloomberg's organization that claims Obama is leading by 15 pts. If that were true, McCain would not be leading in as many states as he is.

15 pts. is approaching a Mondale-style blowout, in which he only won 1 state and DC. McCain is ahead in way too many states for this Bloomberg farce to be even close to accurate.

10 Tips for the Weekend Gardener

Depending on your geographic location, choose drought-tolerant or
water-loving native or non-invasive exotic plants, and always purchase the
best quality plants and shrubs -- ask your retailer about plant life
guarantees -- be sure to keep your receipts.

Group plants together based on how much shade, sun and watering they
need.

Start your gardens off with organic fertilizer and other organic
products. If switching over from chemical to organic products, do it in
steps -- adding more organic fertilizer and less synthetic over a two-week
period.

Fertilize and mulch garden beds and potted plants -- the water will
evaporate into the mulch and fertilizer, and keep the plants protected and
watered as needed.

Water your plants early in the morning, and water them at the root
zone, for a longer period of time, but less often. Watering longer but less
often encourages hardy plants with deeper roots. After a heavy rain, skip
the regular watering regime.

Save water by using a full watering can rather than a hose, and bend
from the knees to protect your back from the weight of the water and the
can.

Accept less-than-lush gardens and lawns during dry periods, and be
aware that flowers, plants and lawns will regenerate after heavy rains.
Clear out dead trees and trim back leafy trees to allow more light in
on lawns and gardens.

Check automatic sprinkler systems to be sure they are operating
properly and not watering the sidewalk and driveway, and re-adjust the time
and positioning of the sprinklers as needed.

For lawn care, mow high and use a sharp blade -- 3 inches is
recommended. High growth increases grass' tolerance to drought and
insect/disease problems, and clean cut grass blades lose less water than
tattered cut blades of grass.

Proof That New Jersey is Up For Grabs

McCain is actually spending money to win the state. Considering Bush's better than expected showing in 2004, I don't think it is unreasonable to believe McCain could be the first Republican to win NJ in 20 years. Here is an email sent to potential supporters in the Garden State:
For the first time in 16 years, a Republican Presidential Campaign Headquarters will be opening in the Garden State! The New Jersey McCain Campaign Headquarters will officially be opening this Saturday, June 28th for an open house from 11:00am to 12:30pm.

The Headquarters is located at 40 New Brunswick Avenue, 2nd Floor, Woodbridge, NJ 08861. Come out to see the Headquarters and join us for light refreshments, a tour of the phone bank, and to pick up a yard sign.

To RSVP for the event, please click here or email newjersey@johnmccain.com. No confirmation nor reply from campaign staff is needed to attend the event.

Obama's Links to ACORN Voter Fraud

Here are some interesting facts about ACORN, according to Malkin: "Last July, ACORN settled the largest case of voter fraud in the history of Washington State. Seven ACORN workers had submitted nearly 2,000 bogus voter registration forms. According to case records, they flipped through phone books for names to use on the forms..." But it wasn't just in the state of Washington. "The group's vandalism on electoral integrity is systemic," according to Malkin. "ACORN has been implicated in similar voter fraud schemes in Missouri, Ohio and at least 12 other states...In March, Philadelphia elections officials accused the nonprofit advocacy group of filing fraudulent voter registrations in advance of the April 22nd Pennsylvania primary." Read Malkin's column here.

Why Some Polls Are So Off the Mark

Bad Sampling:
There are currently polls showing results ranging from Obama by double digits (Newsweek and the L.A. Times) to a tie (Gallup). Most polls, including Rasmussen Reports, show something in the middle and that’s probably the best estimate of where the race stands today… and where it has been for the past few weeks.

In the case of the recent L.A. Times poll, this [poll sample] mix was 39% Democrats and 22% Republicans.

Jewish Voters Cause Obama Jitters

A lackluster turnout of Jewish Democrats would hurt Obama badly. And even a low double digit defection of Jewish Democrats to McCain in the absolute must win swing states of Florida and Pennsylvania would spell disaster or worse for Obama. The weakness and danger is real. A May Gallup Poll found that while Obama got the majority of Jewish votes he still did far worse poll wise than John Kerry did in the 2004 presidential election among Jewish voters. And, of course, he got far fewer Jewish votes than Clinton in the primaries.

Ethanol Pushers Have Hands All Over Obama Campaign

Nowadays, when Mr. Obama travels in farm country, he is sometimes accompanied by his friend Tom Daschle , the former Senate majority leader from South Dakota. Mr. Daschle now serves on the boards of three ethanol companies and works at a Washington law firm where, according to his online job description, “he spends a substantial amount of time providing strategic and policy advice to clients in renewable energy.”
Mr. Obama’s lead advisor on energy and environmental issues, Jason Grumet, came to the campaign from the National Commission on Energy Policy, a bipartisan initiative associated with Mr. Daschle and Bob Dole , the Kansas Republican who is also a former Senate majority leader and a big ethanol backer who had close ties to the agribusiness giant Archer Daniels Midland

Americans Against Supreme Court Ruling Favoring Terrorists

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that non-citizens suspected of terrorism who are being held in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, should be allowed to challenge their detentions in the U.S. civilian court system. Supporters of this ruling say it provides detainees with basic constitutional rights. Critics of the ruling say only special military tribunals should be allowed, because hearings in open court could compromise terrorism investigations. What’s your view—do you think these detainees should or should not be able to challenge their detentions in the civilian court system?

Obama: America No Longer a Christian Nation

"Whatever we once were, we're no longer a Christian nation. At least not just. We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, and a Buddhist nation, and a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers," Obama said during a June 2007 speech available on YouTube.

Obama's Drug Years—In His Own Words

Video: Obama Starts Blabbering When Teleprompter Breaks

He sounds like he knows what he's talking about when he just has to deliver a speech somebody else has written for him. When he has to go it alone, with only the aid of the knowledge in his brain, he completely falls apart. He sounds worse than W. Bush, but the media has covered these revealing windows onto Barack Obama's ability to serve as President.

Time: Gay Brain Looks Different Than Straight Brain

Scientists at the Karolinska Institute studied brain scans of 90 gay and straight men and women, and found that the size of the two symmetrical halves of the brains of gay men more closely resembled those of straight women than they did straight men. In heterosexual women, the two halves of the brain are more or less the same size. In heterosexual men, the right hemisphere is slightly larger. Scans of the brains of gay men in the study, however, showed that their hemispheres were relatively symmetrical, like those of straight women, while the brains of homosexual women were asymmetrical like those of straight men. The number of nerves connecting the two sides of the brains of gay men were also more like the number in heterosexual women than in straight men.
